Chloe Milos Azzopardi
Paris, France
Born in 1994, Chloé Milos Azzopardi works between Paris and Catalunya on a long term projects mixing installation and photography. Her work has been shown in Shanghai, Arles and Barcelona.
The ongoing series “The forms they inhabit in time of crisis” is rooted in the photographer’s early experience of depersonalisation disorder. Marked by the regular disconnection with her body, loosing her sensations and boundaries, she got used to imagine the perception of the surrounding livings. Projecting herself in animals, plants or objects. The first sentence from Ovid’s Metamorphoses resonated with her experience.
“I want to say the forms turned into new bodies”
It suggests that forms came before bodies, being at the same time their origin and their mutations. This work explores the relationships between human and non-human beings, looking for the common shapes that go through us, trying to redefine what otherness, individuality and plurality can mean when the body’s limits are challenged.
