Harry Culy is a photographer based in Wellington, New Zealand. His work arises from observations of everyday life in both Australia and New Zealand. Influenced by the Antipodean Gothic art movement, his work often investigates the space between the imagined and the real. Culy recently graduated with a Bachelor of Design in Photography (honours) from Massey University and has been exhibited in New Zealand, Australia, and Thailand. He is currently working on several long-term projects including ‘Rose Hill’, which is based in the wider Hawkes Bay region, and ‘Under the Sun’ which explores masculinity through the subculture of skateboarders in Aotearoa. He began Bad News Books, an independent photobook publishing company, with his partner Lucy Aitchison in 2014.
