Jacob Howard

“The series In-Between consists a selection of images taken while travelling across the desert territories in North Africa and the Middle East. For me the series is animated by a curiosity for the unknown, with an interest in liminal spaces, unexpected encounters and moments of change.

I started the journey in Morocco on a local bus from Tangier to Chefchaouen. Along the way, somewhere in the middle of nowhere, I started noticing enigmatic structures and houses. I couldn’t put my finger on it, whether they were incomplete, abandoned, or on hold. Had someone’s dreams not come to fruition? Is a home ever finished? Is a city ever complete? Are we all in an everlasting state of liminality in some form or the other?”

Jacob Howard is originally  from Wellington, New Zealand where he studied Visual Communication Design. He has been working as a Graphic Designer / Art Director for the past 15 years.
