Jamie Liam Humphrey’s work offers a form of escapism not from the world but in parallel to and a reflection of the world we live in. Paintings presented like puzzles where each colour has a role, but like the concept of life – he has admitted sometimes his work has to be left undone.
There is rawness in the representation of the paintings exhibited through a yearning to indulge in nostalgia met on his journey, from the football matches to the smell of cut grass. These events are pieced together through memories of times often taken for granted in life; which are overwhelmingly compelling when portrayed through his works.
Audiences are mesmerised with the way in which Jamie’s paintings capture their imagination to reveal the precious elements of this life – our existence in a way in theory that is so simple but not yet explored.
The loyalty to his subconscious in conjuring the pieces result in a pureness that is effortlessly captured.
