Josh Hight is a photographer originally from the US now based in London where he has been living and working for the last 10 years.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, where he fostered an early interest in horror movies, techno, punk rock and skateboarding, Josh moved to Chicago at the age of 19 where he began to further his artistic interests with studies in filmmaking and graphic design whilst also touring as a musician for various punk and indie rock bands – all areas that continue to inspire his work today.
Josh’s work is primarily informed by themes and variations upon nature, isolation and voyeurism. Very often his work places us as viewer in media res so that we might not be certain what we are seeing, where we are or what might happen next. By doing so he seeks to create an immediate narrative between himself, the subject and viewer that instigates an intimacy that is both tender and alienating.
