Marzena Skubatz was born in 1978 in Gleiwitz, Poland and has lived in Germany since 1989. She received her diploma in Photography and Media from University of Applied Sciences Dortmund in 2012. She is based in Berlin/ Germany and Iceland, where she works on personal projects and on commissioned editorial work.

Her fascination for remote and inaccessible environments has brought her to the North, where she explores the intimate lives and persistence of people in isolated places.

Marzenas work is a study of the correlation between humans and nature. Her main subjects are landscapes, which oscillate between outer and inner states.

She also became interested in the concept of “place/home” and escapism, since she has migrated from Poland to Germany at the age of ten.
